1) CUWL meeting highlights (Marlys/Deb)

1. ERM Task Force – there was no consensus in the survey results and a feeling that there is no money for this right now.  Verde is prohibitively expensive.  Since things are changing in this area, the group asked for further direction.  CUWL thanked them for their work; the committee will not do anything more at this time.

2. LMS report – Resource Discovery, LMS and MetaLib reports were all given before discussion ensued.  The directors see a need for a vision; some were in favor of creating an environment that supports flexibility to experiment with software, and others saw a need for a formal process for selection and evaluation.  Ed Meachen encouraged us to get a plan before the Common Systems group in December.  Make it a multi-phase approach, starting with resource discovery.  The directors suggested a retreat in July for the directors and the Resource Discovery and the Library Management System task forces in order to bring their work together.

3. Other items were discussed--see CUWL web site for details (minutes will be posted there)

2) SFX/MetaLib/Voyager Training (Lisa) – what do campuses think about the Acquisitions and Cataloging training webinars?  Three campuses would like the training; one does not see much value in this. We’ll ask about this on the LAMs call on Thursday.

3) New bX service in SFX – River Falls is interested in this and might ask for a trial.  Are others interested as well?  If we are counted as 14 sites that comes out to $1071 per site.  We’ll ask others about this on the LAMs conference call.

4) Webinar for Ex Libris URM – Nancy Taylor (Ex Libris account representative) said they were told there wasn’t room for them at the June conference.  We will ask them to do a webinar for anyone who’s interested (not just LTCC members), at the end of May, shortly before the conference.  We would like to hear more details on the URM.  [Addendum:  there is a slot for Ex Libris at the conference, although it’s not a very large block of time, so we will ask for a webinar a couple of weeks after the conference in order to get more details.]

5) The next meeting for the LMS Task Force will be to discuss the OLE Project (http://oleproject.org/).  We have more time than we expected until Voyager goes away (10 years).  OLE is coming out with their design document in July.  They will start writing the code this fall (dependent on funding).  First deliverable will be in 2012 (framework and some functionality).  Then they will open it up to other developers.

6) Other business

1. When is our MetaLib upgrade?  The new version will be out in July.  We don’t have it scheduled yet.
