Conference Call, Wednesday February 6, 2008

Present: Ewa Barczyk, Karen Jander, John Jax, Lisa Jewell, Dina Kaye, Lisa Pillow, Richard Reeb, Tom Reich, Mary Rieder, Kathy Schneider

Chair Reeb called meeting to order at 9:03.

The committee approved the 12/5/07 and 1/2/08 conference call minutes prepared by Karen Jander and John Jax respectively.

CRS-sponsored or CRS-involved projects-reviewed

Library Dynamics

Ewa, Richard, John and Mary participated in the training in Madison.  They have been charged with leading a training effort.  Richard has not heard from Howard since those sessions.  Library Dynamics is in the process of loading files from campuses.  Plan is for us to get additional training (online) using the data that we supplied.  Ewa said Howard also reported at the CUWL meeting, he thought he’d have data uploaded by the end of February.  Subgroup to do analysis: John, Mary, Janet Padway (Milwaukee), Joan Robb (UWG), Richard or someone else from Madison.

Appoint committee to evaluate Universal Borrowing across UW campuses

Goal is to analyze of effectiveness and to investigate future resource sharing policies.  Group suggested Mary to join ad hoc group

ERM working group

Gabrielle Chilton (LAX) would like to be on the working group. Richard recommended Chris Kline (Mad) and  Karen Jander.  Richard and Marlys will compose charge by end of February.

Renewal of BioOne funded by SEC:  results of CDC polling (Karen)

The CDC recommends renewal of BioOne. It was suggested to send a letter of protest or to be more aggressive with negotiating the price next year.
A motion made, seconded and carried unanimously to renew BioOne. (Karen will notify Cheryl Bradley)

Upcoming WiLS seminar on resource sharing

The seminar is aimed at public services directors, not ILL people.  No one on this committee needs to worry about registering for this.

Space planning survey (Ewa)

The issue of shared remote storage, has been on the CUWL agenda.  Can Library Dynamics help with this?  Reviewed draft questions. Ewa will take this back to CUWL.

No new business.

The next meeting will be scheduled on Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.
